Boozhoo, aaniin. Welcome to Weechi-it-te-win Family Services

In 1982, Weechi-it-te-win was founded as an "Anishinaabe Alternative" and we continue to envision the revitalization of a system of care that is rooted in the customs, traditions and values of the Anishinaabe people of Treaty #3.

Caring for our own

Our services are available to members of our nine partner First Nations residing in the Rainy River District in Northwestern, Ontario. In accordance with the original vision of our founding fathers, Weechi-it-te-win's child welfare and family preservation funding has been devolved to each of our partner First Nations and as such these services are delivered at the community, by the community.

The Website presents an overall framework of the organizational structure, operating philosophy, decentralized service delivery model, and bi-cultural services that Weechi-it-te-win has to offer. It serves as an accessible resource for families and service providers seeking information on child welfare, mental health and healing, in addition to cultural services/resources that are provided by Weechi-it-te-win.
