Welcome to the Weechi-it-te-win Family Services Family Healing Program. Together we can make a difference in delivering quality service to families who are seeking assistance and support in a safe therapeutic environment to address issues related to unresolved trauma that have impacted the family system.
The Family Healing Program is situated in a peaceful and therapeutic setting 6 miles west of Fort Frances Ontario. Specifically 071 McTavish Road, Lavallee Township, Devlin, Ontario.
Our Program provides families with healthy coping and stabilization techniques, psycho-education and a therapeutic environment that will allow the family to begin a sustainable healing journey. The 15-day Outpatient Program is rooted in Anishinaabe culture, ceremony, and land based teachings.
We believe in the traditional Anishinaabe concepts of family and as such, we work together to help families heal and attain "mino bimaadiziwin" (a good life).
The mission of the Family Healing Program is to deliver a full spectrum of high quality, culturally competent services and programming for children, youth and families.
Our three phase model features a community strategy that involves collaborations with First Nation Service Providers from pre-admission to post-discharge. The program is designed work in a collaborative manner with First Nations to support families throughout the Orientation phase (pre-treatment), the Treatment phase (15 day Outpatient Treatment Cycle) and After-Care phase (Post-discharge).
This 3 phase approach will allow the program staff to provide on-going support for families alongside their front line community care service providers for a period of 6 months.
The Family Healing Program is a voluntary program. Each potential participant must be willing to make a commitment to their own healing process and actively participate in all elements of the program.
The Family Healing Program cannot accommodate treatment for individuals that are actively using/abusing/misusing alcohol or drugs; these individuals will be encouraged to seek appropriate treatment before he/she will be considered for this program.
Based on the fact that the Family Healing Program is an outpatient program, we are able to accept individuals that are prescribed harm reduction medications such as methadone or suboxone.
